Im thinking of installing a night light for the tank.
I want for the fish to be somewhat visible but at the same time not be bright enough to discomfort them when sleeping. The light would be on all night until the day light power on.
If anyone has any experience in night lights or suggestions for the watt or colour of the bulb.

i saw some of the ebay moonlight led's but they look very bright. Around 10watt i think =/
red or blue led x-mass lights, tis the season to get em cheap.
lol just made a vid about this. check it out. i highly recomend blue light it replecates moon light. also brightness typically isn't an issue. any light u use is only going to light up a small area which leaves the rest of the tank dark.. the main thing to watch for is mounting. most (for best results) you will have to fabricate a good mount. many come with totally non-practical mounts ie. lights that mount to the glass and only point forward unless you have a glass lid. but good luck and personally think night lights are healthy for fish as apposed to complete darkness, the darkness i think can stress the fish.
I dont think the colour effect the fish much, its the watt output. Useless having a dark blue light with a 20watt output at night. Ive been looking around ebay and all i can find is strips of 30+ blue led's. Think thats far to many for a 30g.
maybe you can just tape over the top of some of the bulbs.
