40 gallon- kribs, rams, apistos

will kribs, rams and apistos spawn in the same tank and have the fry survive, if I have to, Ill devide the tank in to parts when breeding takesplace. I dont want to do it unless I have to though. are kribs safe to put with plants, or will the plants be eaten? thanks for all the help :)

All are territorial especially when defending young. Not overly aggressive, but will stake out an area and defend it. Probably 1 Kribs 2 Apistos and 3 Rams in aggressiveness. All 3 in a 40 gallon won't give enough space in my opinion

And Kribs are safe with plants. Kind of jerks though. Apistos and rams will chase other similar sized fish, but kribs will chase schooling fish and corys. I don't care for them.

alrighty then, no kribs :)

But will apistos an rams still breed in a 40. what if I separated them after spawning? I have 3 rams right now, so rams are definate. thanks for the help :)

I don't see why not. They will each stake out there own area of the tank. Not sure if parameters for breeding are the same for each species though. They are both SA cichlids so it must be somewhat similar.

I agree on the Kribs....Kribs can get very very aggressive when breeding. I had to move them out of my 100 gallon to reduce the stress level in my bosemani rainbows....after I did that, introduced more bloodworms to the rainbows and 2 weeks later I had more and more and more rainbow fry.

I've had two kribs in the same tank with rams....small rams hid in the top corner looking to hide.
