Anyone ever get any plants out of local streams , rivers, or lakes? Found some nice looking plants this past weekend and I up rooted them and put them in my dirted tank. Kinda looks like some little crypts. Got some stem plants in my little grow out setup.

I guess none of ya'll have tried it yet, I will shoot some pics soon and let ya'll know how it goes

I've done that ones, and with that plant I got platworms and some sort of centipede in my tank. Didn't seem to harm the fish, but I would like to stay in control what's in the tank and what's not.
I was worried about that too. I tried my best to inspect them very closely before planting them. I rubbed all the leaves and looked all down in the roots. I also run a uv sterilizer.
I'll get some pictures of them later today

here is the little crypt looking plants, just the two in the center of the pic. sorry my camera sucks

I thought about it because I have access to a pretty cool native plant.  But I want colorful tropical plants and the risk of infection is too great.  A UV is fine for bacteria or algae, but any kind of parasite would probably infect your tank before it was killed.

No, but I'll grab some and check it in my book.  I thought it was duckweed because it has little buds on top and underneath the water it looks like ludwigia.

From above it it looks like duckweed but it is a stem plant with ludwigia type leaves. Toxic waste mutation?
