I don't know anything about lights, so don't want to buy an expensive light I don't need.

I have a 75 gal with java fern/java moss(doesn't need much light to begin with right), italian val, water wisteria, sag.

Just dirted the tank yesterday, of course not much change to the plants yet.

Some of the water wisteria leaves have or already were dark brown and falling off.

There are bubbles come from one of the attached water wisteria leaves and bubbles are coming  from the parts of the stem where I cut off the dead leaves.

Anyways...what are brand of light and what watts or other info do I need to consider when looking for lights that will grow my plants.

I have a standard 2 bulb light strip that came with the tank.  Currently there is what looks like a standard bulb that come with the light fixture and some kind of blue strip bulb that makes the water look cool but not sure what that is doing for my plants.  I got this tank used.  Sorry I really don't know much about lights.

whats ur current light setup?

Great info/help as always fishtanktv people.

One flourescent bulb (the light is blue) reads:

Marine Glo 48"/119.94cm 40w

The second flourescent bulb reads:

Life Glo 48"/119.94cm 40w

I don't see any #####K on it unless I have to take out the bulb and look in a different spot.

These bulbs are at least 3 years old.

The only other plants I plan on adding are jungle val and maybe an amazon sword.

Turns out my bulbs are over 4 years old.  No wonder the only thing that grow is java fern.

I was looking at flora glo but it says it is 2800k for a 40 watt.

Not sure which would be better

2 new flora glo or 2 new life-glo?

On the Hagen site it seems the flora-glo is made for planted aquariums.

I'm wondering what the 2800k or the higher k value is better for plants?

Seems like the k refers to spectrum?

Anyways I need new lights soon because my val is pale green and even the java moss is turning pale green.

Can't be ferts?  I dirted the tank last Tuesday and did 80% water changes 4 times over a week.
