Dwarf cichlids can. Rams and apistos. They do great in planted tanks. I have a male and female German blue ram in my planted 20 high
Also angels and discus do good too.

african cichlids will rip them up, most sa cichlids will to. Rams, discus, angelfish, apistos, kribs, and other "new world cichlids" do great in planted tanks and are ful of personallity (all cichlids are :)

African Cichlids can be in planted tanks, even Peacocks,Haps, and Mbuna's can be in planted tanks IF you get them while they are small and raise them in a planted setting,I have personally done this without issues, but most Cichlids can be in planted settings only certain ones are known for eating certain types of plants, not all plants are tasty to Cichlids and some you can get by with...You should just try it out and see what happens, trial and error are better then random advice, especially from folks who have planted tanks with NO FISH.....Oz

Wow GSP your really helpful. im so glad we have people in the world like you.
Yes you can I have a blood parrot, and two firemouths. All I did was leave a part of the tank plant/dirt free in order for them to dig their "nests". I it all depends on the cichlids you get. Do you research first because there are some that will destroy all you hard work.
