I got too excited when i got my tank that i've laid the dirt and gravel in it already. i  haven't got the filter and light yet so i don't wanna fill it up just yet. how long do you guys think i could keep it like that? won't it cause the dirt to be anaerobic? btw i'm not planning on buying the filter and light 'til next week so i'm thinking of leaving it like for the time being. please share me your thoughts. thanks!

i would fill it up with water to like about 3-4 inches above the substrate. after that just let it settle down...i wouldnt worry about anything going anaerobic because there will be plenty of o2 still in the substrate in the form of air pockets. also you need to have alot of depth before anaerobic situations start to occur.

thanks!

Did you lightly soak the dirt before adding dirt?

Before adding water; take out the gravel, lightly get the dirt dank and moist, refill the gravel to your liking, add water, than setup filter and lights. Otherwise the dirt will want to arise above the gravel and float, making a mess.

Hope this helps

yeah the dirt was slightly soaked. and the gravel was also wet wet cause i just rinsed it when i added it in. so, do you think it'd be ok if i leave it like that for a few more days or i should get some water in the tank like xuyen baller ha said? thanks!
