Same company.  I have and prefer a filter like the Aquaclear because you can easily put whatever type of media you want in the basket just like a canister.

Ya there both made by hagen a i corrently own a aqua c 50 and a fluval c2 there on seperate tanks i like the custiamization on the aqua clear but i like the wet dry attempt on the fluval
