A simple question, What one is better, and why? I am looking into getting a fluval 305 canister filter and replacing my 2 hang over filters, a fluval and a penguin. I am not sure right now on the moddel numbers but the fluval came with my 29 gallon kit, and i'm not sure on the penguin. can anyone help tell me if the 305 is worth the $200. I would be using the 2 hang over filters for a new tank I am getting This week. Thanks, and I'm new so im sorry if i didnt do somthing right.

1st of all how big is your tank and 2nd both type of filter works greats (hangover filter or canisters). It all depends on you to honest. If you have a big tank that 55 gal or lager a canister tank would be better I personally using a Fluval FX5 for my 135 gal planted tanks. On my 55 gal I'm using two Fluval C4 filters to keep my tanks clean and clear. Both filters work lovely and its like I said before is all depends on the owner.
You can also use a good aquaclear filter like the 500/110 series to keep any any take sizes water clean and clear for a long while.

I would be putting the 305 in my 29 gallon and the.n using my two hangovers on a new tank I would buy. I think a canister would be better because it would have a waterfall like stream going into the tank and insted I could make more of a direct current.

Hmmm, I would use both types on the same tank, works really well.
