How to replenish the substrate in a set tank.
Hi all/Dustin, Would like to know how to replenish substrate in tank after its juice is over. The tank is set for a long time a year, but now the plants are not doing as good as they used to. Hydroponic ferts can disturb the water chemistry so is there any way directly treat the substrate?

Try root tabs. Seachem has a pretty good one or root medic. These are the 2 brands I've used to great success. You put in one tab for every few square inches, I do 4 inches placing them closer to the heavy root feeders like swords or crypts. Root tabs last a pretty long timeo approximately 3-4 months.
