Plant algae Problem!! Help

I have just over a week started to get black algae on plants its Not hair like ... looks kind like a black tar and it cant be wiped off, any ideas on what to do to combat it? does seem to be spreading to other plants aswell... :(

Only on leaves, really noticeable on the swords & java fern.
