Could someone please tell me what are these plants? I bought them yesterday and I live in Korea and my Korean isn't that good, also the LFS they don't know the names... they just sell plants for 2 dollars (equivalent) and the bigger one, which I believe is some sort of Echinodorus, was for free because I bought some other plants.
This for sure is some kind of sword (Echinodorus)... please don't say "light saber" hahaha small joke.

Now we need to find information on this plant... gosh it's really a beautiful plant ^_^ hope it wont die.
Yeah I looked up the antlers grass, and I cant find anywhere that I can buy it =[ if anyone in the states knows, let me know =]. But dude im stoked to see the end result, and video. And I know a bit about lava rock. 1st i hate how it looks, so having where you have it would be awesome. covering it in java moss and rooting the fern on it would in fact lower its "filter" rate. I know if you soak it for a while prior to adding it it wont do much, and if you get it from a LFS that already has stuff added it should be fine at that point as well. I have a piece in my 20L just because it originally had dwarf baby tears on it, and i just left it there due to no other place available. And the pics look amazing!! I was curious why the wood was angled at one point?
wow, that might be a nice piece of lava rock you have with those baby dwarf tears on it, nice one, I would like to see a picture. The java fern I have is already grown pretty big, all the roots are entangled in a plastic canvas mesh, so I thought I might leave it there, but then again, I have lots of java moss and I'm not sure rather putting it on my new piece of driftwood or use it with a lava rock together with my java fern. For my driftwood I already ordered some weeping moss (really nice n cheap just 3 dollars) and some mini java fern. I love java ferns because I totally witnessed, it really sucks a lot of nitrate. I tried taking it out for two weeks from my main tank, then putting it in... difference of 0 nitrates to 3 nitrates yeah ^_^. The piece of wood you saw angled, is just a support for both woods to stay in place haha, I couldn't find clamps so this was my way to have my wood secured in order to start gluing with silicone(same goes for the insulating tape).
Here's some more pictures:
Zoom from a side of the refugium:
Okay......the more i watch this the more I want to make one. I want to learn to cut my own glass too(it will come in hand for me). I would love to show you the lave rock with the tears...however....the baby tears died off(and I have co2....i dont understand how it happened. The wood makes sense now....like i thought that was why but i had to ask. But, if you look at the picture of my 20L you might see the rock in the middle =P. also...did you make that entire tank?
wow.... I got a hell of a plant!... oh and btw... I discovered it starts to wither on low light... you need sunlight. Now is regaining strenght (I forgot I left my Melon sword "over" this plant when I was taking pictures XD)
Dude thanks a bunch for your research, I will put this in a document ^_^.
I love how theres a lot of medicinal uses for it, kinda funny and cool. "You can plant your fish tank, and calm your stomach" =P
Lol..... it also means, this plant can help my fish... if they get diarreah hahahaha
About your baby dwarf tears, I think it might be related to your CO2, as Diana explains most CO2 users experiences problems on their plants after some time, well she was more detailed about this, but to make things short, she explains that it is better to let the plants get CO2 from the decomposing organic matter in the soil, the bacteria in your water, and as well from plants itself during the night, those 3 will provide enough CO2 to have nice looking plants. She totally recommend not to use CO2 injections.
Btw, about the tank, I bought it, but I wanted to make one by myself, I was afraid to cut glass. Then I decided to make this refugium, so I watched some vids in youtube how to cut glass and tried... I broke some glass by frustration hahaha , in the end I learned "the stroke you make with your glass cutter must be done just ONCE and firmly enough to make a nice EVEN line" doesnt matter if you feel like I did "oh its just a mere line, it wont break" it will break, specially if you did an EVEN sound when cutting, you can do it fast or slow, but even... and it will cut straight. Remember to use special gloves for this (I used kitchen gloves XD). Also yesterday I learned I can use vinegar to clean the residual stains of silicone (those small accidents when taking out your caulking gun). I also learned to first place some insulating tape to guide my silicone excess, and then take it out as soon as I finish applying that line of silicone.
Here's the final work ;)
I will make the youtube vid once I try it out:
(The heater size was perfect ^_^)
dude this is awesome! and yeah I know what she says, but my stuff isnt strong enough to keep everything good. Dwarf Baby tears do need a bit extra to sustain its growth, and that is the only plant that I have ever had a problem with =D
