Hey FishTankTV,

Got to say time been awhile since I posted and read other people great experiences on working their awesome tanks. But as written on the discussion title my Angelfish have finally pair up and today surprise with their 1st spawning in my 55 gallon community tank. Got to say I'm excited for the next upcoming days and weeks that are to follow. So if anyone out there have any pointers for a noobie on the subject of breeding Angelfishes it greatly help me to expect what ahead.

Its best that they have their own tank. Some people separate the babies from the parents so that the parents will lay eggs again quickly, but you can raise them together no problem. There's also a chance the parents might eat the eggs especially since this is their first spawn but don't be discouraged they'll probably breed again.

The fry will do best on live food. They'll be looking for food once the yolk sack is absorbed. Microworms are a good start and baby brine shrimp are great after a week.

Thanks for the tips Robert...question how big of tank should I have these little guys in? I have a 20 gal hospital tank running but I'm thinking of using it for the Angelfish fry.

Whenever people ask me what size tank they should get, I always say "the bigger the better" but your 20 gallon should work fine. In fact the 20 gallon size will allow you to feed them without some going "missing" in another part of the tank during the feeding. And it will also allow you to clean it easier. Siphon off water the bottom layer after feeding them and replace it with nice fresh water. I know changing the water is a pain but filling  a 5 gallon bucket shouldn't take that long.
