I got this catfish (I'm confident on that much) from a coworker when she sold me her tank and it's affiliated items to include it's living inhabitants. I sold off the other catfish, severums, cichlids and silver dollars but, decided to keep this one because of it's beautiful appearance. He is bluish-greyish in color with black dots all over and a large dorsal fin that reselmbles that of a common Pleco. He has small teeth and a rounded mouth, is about 5yrs old and i assume is full grown at around 6-7 inches in length. His whiskers are not that of a Bullhead or Pim Cat in that that aren't just straight out, but rather they are more like little trees with many branches on them. He also has short and thick feelers onthe underside of his bottom lip as many bottom feeders have but, does not have a suction-type mouth like that of a pleco or carp type. He often swims upside-down on his back to get at the roots of my Hyacynths but, never eats them. I have small Ghost Shrimp within the same tank and he does not pursue them either, yet he eats ciclid pellets regularly lol! Help a brother out with this mystery fish please!

Looks like a synodontis eupetures. or just Synodontis cat.

Thanks bro i googled it and yes it appears you are correct, thank you for the assistance.

he is a feather fin Synodontis.(Synodontis eupterus) as jason said. they are more active at dust, so he might be hunting your shrimps then.  They are very beautiful fish and I had one around 8"ish maybe 9.

Yeah bro looks good, i never saw one before this that i know of. I've had many catfish and hundreds of other kinds of fish in general and had no clue with this one lol! I'll be feeding him plenty better and his old tank was half the size of mine and had no live plants or invertebrates living in there to eat. I don't doubt he'll be catching on to the fact that they taste good in no time haha! I don't hold back with my tank on anything, strictly passioate about these things!

its a cleaner catfish that grows like a foot

synondontis eupterus

Actually bought (correction rescued) four of these from walmart. They love driftwood, something about it has all four of them using it as food and shelter.
