Hey guys, I am debating whether or not to turn my 10 gallon tank into a saltwater environment. Its gonna be my first time ever experiencing saltwater so i want to keep the cost and maintenance to a minimum.

I just want the simplest thing possible. I was just wondering what exactly i would need because right now i have the tank, a HOB filter, and a heater. I dont want to do corals or live rock so that means no special lights. will that regular HOB filter work or do i need something else?

Right now all i want is a couple small salt water fish, sand as my substrate and salt water. if i need anything else please let me know, thanks every one!

I have thought of doing the same, but never actually started on due to the birth of my second son.  When I was lee searching info  I would google nano reef tank. There is also a website dedecated to this.  I would advice just to that website.

You will want a Hydrometer to test salinity. Of course you will need food. Maybe you need something to keep the water moving.
