It all depends if ur tank is heavily planted or not also what kind of filter u are runnin and the bio load of ur fish. But good rule of thumb is a 25% - 30% water changes weekly or biweekly. But if u have a small bio load and lots o plants and ok filtration u can do a 40% - 50% water change every 3 weeks to a month. I pesonally do 50% water changes every week on my 55g tank

filter is eheim 2028 and fluval u2

if its heavily planted with a low bio load, can u just top up the evaporated water everyday? if no, can u describe the science of what happens to the tank water with such a practice?

I do a 30% water change every Saturday morning. Sometimes I miss, but it works well for my 55 gal, planted tank with 28 fish. I have a long siphon that attaches to my sink. It makes water changes very quick and easy.

mine is about 320l or 85g water. and i am trying the lowest tech possible tank setup. thats why i was asking about water chemistry. whats the minimum water change i can get away with? maybe about 15 small fish plus 10-20 ghost shrimp. lots of plants. no CO2. light 11 hours per day.
