Ho I also got on ebay this chinese ADA Condensed Fertilizer (Root Tablet -Live Aquarium Plant Fertilizer Aquatic INV)I have all kinds of swords, a few anubias, cabomba,Malasia drift wood. I want so bad a green carpet made of baby tears, do you guys think my dirt mix will be ok for them? I have been reading Alot and I know its a hard plant. I just got a 48 inch marinland high tech light fixture really stron light :) Im I good to go? do I need something else? ho I do have DIY CO2. My water is a bit yellowish but I think is from the dirt or the drift wood.

What do you say by Marineland High tech light fixture?

If you mean a T5 fixture then you're okay...but that lighting won't do much without co2 or the baby tear will just not make it.

Plus dwarf HC are not really for beginners but if you want to try ..i an't stoping you.

The light fixture is a T12, and I do have CO2 on my 55. Im waiting for my baby tears to get here tomorrow :) I got them on ebay, any tips on how to plant them?

baby tear HC do really well in T5 lighting.

Planting is not very simple if you have a lot of fish that like to distrube them...You can try to plant leaft by leaf or stem by stem. Or keep them together when you remove from the pot.

Good luck...

Nice tank!   The yellow is from your drift wood.  It will clear up.  Mine did after 2 week and two 50% water changes.  Here is a vid I did on planting dwarf baby tears.  There roots make it hard to plant.

Great pics and tank.  Post when you get the HC planted.

Ok I got my HC yesterday and I watch a few videos of amano planting them. I have the tools he use so I did not had any problem planting them. I plant most of them in my 55g, a few in my 5g and some outside like Dustin. They look good but the ones in my 5g I went this morning to check on them and they are cover with bubbles I belive its called pearling? I try getting pics but this one is the best one I got, and the ones in my 55g. The light is a lot stronger than it looks.

Amano ?  Just kidding.  :-)  I've got one of his books.  Whenever folks think my tank is awesome I show them Amano's CO2 tanks.  What Michael Jordan was to basketball Amano is to planted tanks.  Could you post the videos of him planting stuff?  The book I have shows me his tools but I've made do with very cheap stuff.

If your not running CO2 you might get some of the HC to let go and float out of carpet structure.  I wouldn't worry.  If you are running CO2 give them high light.  High light without CO2 and you can get algae on it and choke it out.

Nice tank and you look like you know what your doing.  I did major changes in my tank to try and get the HC rolling.  Keep me posted how it goes.  HC is one of the hardest plants I've run across.  So don't lose hope.  It just takes time in a low tech tank.

I have two DIY CO2 in it, and my 5g has one. If the HC is pearling it means is doing ok? I will keep you posted. I will post pics in a week to see how they are doing. :)

That's a great sign.  Woot!  :-)

Is my T12 light bad? my plants had been growing a lot with it. I have anubias, swords, cabomba, and some tropica fern.

Those plants mentioned have very good roots and well do fine in low light with dirt.  HC needs hight light.  I finally doubled my light in a low tech and the HC has been rolling.
