Ok so my girlfriend bought me a new tank the other day that is 30g and i'm looking for a good quality but inexpensive t5ho fixture with 2 bbulbs and i prefer led moon lights but not needed. I found zoo med for $55 on amazon but not sure of the quality.

I had the zoomed t5 fixture on my 29, but swaped it for some LED that work ten times better. Zoomed is not that great just cheap.
Really now. Led huh. I thought about that but wasn't sure about it with plants. I was also thinking of going with a glow set up but idk.

I wanted to try this, but just ended up going with T5s.  Be the guinea pig. lol.  Looked like a great deal to me.  For 35$ even if it doesn't grow plants well it's not a big hit.

Ya I have really put some thought into the led but I just don't know about it with plants and if it really does as advertised. I know they are the next big thing especially for tanks with fake plants..
Well ecoexotic has a LED speacial for plants :)
Nice site. Just went over there and I must say they look pretty sexy. I like the aluminum which means it can b painted. But it doesn't or I didn't see that detailed of a description about wattage, reflectors or anything like that. I'm at work and just on my phone so things are easy to miss but for $70 that so far blows everything else (price wise) out of the water
Go to fishneedit.com. They got some good fixtures at a reasonable price. I've read that they were good lights. But don't have them myself. I have a 20L that I'm itching to scape.
Cool I'll check that out. I have a 29 that I cant wait for it's probably going to be another month before I can do it. :-( right now I'm collecting and piecing it all together. But when it's done it will b the sickest tank in the world!!!! That I've made atleast. Lol and it's killing me to have all these great ideas and seen so many great tanks to have to hurry up and wait as the funds slowly come in.. But it's going to be well worth it.

ok so I been doing some research on led grow lights. While at work I thought of a great place to find actual comparison of led vs cfl style bulbs and went looking for grow lights for pot. Most the people I knew in highschool were like mad scientists with it and since it has to be pretty much hidden and all grown with artificial light I figured there must be a lot of info on this. As it turns out there is. And there is this really big thing with switching to led grow lights. Most if not all the blogs I read about the switch everyone had doubled their yield per crop. So there really must be something great behind led. Now then I havent started looking hard for led lights for tanks but I do remember most of what I have seen was a mix of blue and white leds. One thing I noticed about the pot led was its 98 percent red one or two blue and a couple white. And the sites I found that showed par levels the led out performed everything else. The spectrums were right on the red. Now those lights wont be great in a tank unless you want everything looking red tinted. Anyways I'm only mentioning this because it really does seem like there is something to the led lights. I'm off to bed after a 14 hour work day just to do it again tomorrow so if anyone else gets curious about this and finds anything else out useful ( especially where to buy some red with white led fixtures) don't leave me in the dark! lol oh and the ones i have found have been very expensive. I'm talking $650 for a 16" fixture.

May your swords be the stickiest of the icky.
I recommend this light, they are affordable and prove enough wattage to grow plants.
Corallife at marineandreef.com. Zoomed lighting fixture are nice but they don't come with lightbulbs, so in the long run it will end up costing you 100+.
And led lights is a really nice feature but the mess with the fish if left on everynight. I have dome on my 10g guppy tank.
