EI Dosing Method.

I understand the concept of it. The only thing I'm not sure about is, if the ferts come dry, do you turn it into a liquid or do you just dump the dry ferts into the tank? Im confused about that. Also if its says dose 1/16 of a spoon, how do you even find a spoon that small?

So, I just visited their website and read that you drop 1-4 drops per gallon. So if I have a 10 gallon, I would dose 10-40 per day?

pfertz and rootmedic are alternatives as well. they sell liquid fertz in nice bottles. not as expensive as ada or gla. ive been looking into dosing as well. tom barr, the guy that came up with the EI dosing method, also has a method for non c02, low tech tanks. you basically do minimal dosing once a week or once every two weeks. no water changes.,..and occasionally skipping a dose. if you have dirt, its really not necessary but I doubt it will do any harm to does the water column as well as the sub... as long as you do it moderately. right now, im not sure whether to go dry or go the convenient route and get the liquid fterz or go dry and mix it my self. im not sure if I want to figure out all the ratiossss...im lazy. lol

I think at aquariumfertilizer.com it shows you all the ratios and how much you add. It comes as one so all you have to dose is one fert with all the essential nutrients plants need. Thanks to broaquaticuniverse, he's shown me the cheapest way, and I think the easiest as well.

ah ok, cool...i guess thats easy enough. do it once into a bottle and thats it. i would rpob not mix that macro(npk) with micro(ca,mag,etc) tho

You can pay 12 dollars for both the macros and micros. Im not sure if they come separate or together.

yeah but one bottle probly only last a couple months at the most were as the dry ferts one bag last for years

You can do either dry or make up a liquid solution. Whatever is easier for you to do. About the 1/16th tsp, with EI dosing your doing in excess of what you need so I would take a 1/8tsp and fill it alittle over half. To me that is the beauty of EI dosing is its not an exact science and if you have a little extra in there its no big deal since you will be "resetting" your tank with that 50% WC once a week.

What I do is start on the smaller side of doses and kept increasing till my plants showed no further benefit from the increases.
