I decided to dirt a 30 gallon, I need to know if it is okay to put sand on dirt?

Also, I just went out and feud some driftwood (near dead tree) I need to know how to make it safe for fish. I have 2 weeks so no hurry. Also, I am getting, swords, crypts, jungle val and dwarf sag, do they like dirt?

Lastly, Does anyone have Java fern Trident for sale?

Thanks,

#1, sand is not the best cap because it does not adsorb any nutrients from the dirt like clay substrate does. it allows tons of leeching. other than that its ok to use

#2. theres a difference between dried wood and drift wood. its going to be hard to get that dried wood to sink and not rot. it also may carry tons of fungus and other nasty stuff as well and might harm your tank.

#3. all those plants will be ok in dirt
