Have you been doing the water changes that you need to when you first start?

what did u use to cap it? how thick?
Scoop out leaves and dirt. And do couple big water changes
I have some vids on my profile that shows the process ....an explanation of what your going threw ..... Please tell me you capped the dirt
yes i capped the dirt, I know how to fix everything i was just wondering if there is any way to get rid of the green tint in the water. i know i can fix everything its just that I dont like the way its looking right know and was wondering if there is anyway to speed the proccess
Green tint ??? Maybe you have a water born alge bloom ... The only quick fix if that is the problem you have would be a uv sterilizer petco and petsmart the one I got is called the meen green killing machine
yo! dirted my tank over two months ago and i wernt happy with it either, same as you my water has a greeny lime tint, i thought it was algae so i got a uv BUT its still getting the tint, so i put it down to the color off the dirt and wood, if it is algae it will multiply real quick so that you cant see through the tank after a week or so, if its only getting greenish slowly and can still see straight through the tank after a week with no trouble you might just have the same problem as me, dont assume its algae just cos its green

green tint is free floating algae mate your best bet is a UV sterilizer

how meny hours are your lights on per day ?

do you have a thick enough cap on your dirt ie. every 1 inch of dirt needs 1 inch minimum of cap?

have you got plenty of fast growing plants to soak up nutrients ?

Thanks for all the help guys I think i am just going to try some big water changes and see how it works out, then get back to you
Like the others said, waterchanges. But if it's what I think it is it's called Tannin... I think that's how you spell it. It's basically the same stuff that gives Tea it's color. Water changes help and if you add activated carbon to your filter that can help some too. :)
How about a picture? It'll help determining algae, bacterial or tannins. Remember that when you first dirt your tank you are putting an enormous amount of organics into the water. That combined with your lighting can produce an algae bloom.
love my tank after the dirt. just keep doing those water changes. it will get better
