I dont have one and i had e for about a month. the can breath atmospheric air. maybe its ammonia
Was it 1 lonely cory? I had a school of loaches and when there was only 1 left it displayed the same behavior until it also died. It was fine until it had no school. Maybe it is behavioral.
if you had only one cory cat then it shouldnt have been behaving like that. In a school they are much more social and active but the single cory i have in my tank is incredibly shy and is a loner that doesnt swim much except for feeding and when hes scared. It was probably something with your water, you should test it or get it tested
need like to be in school of 5+ and need a tank bigger than 20 gallon.

I think that if you are keeping it in a betta tank that the water was probably the problem. People keep bettas and get complacent because of there relative ease of care. But the cory while still a hardy fish needs better water quality then bettas. I only have 2 cory's in my tank and they are active and happy looking. maybe they just need a bigger tank. Good luck if you try again.
