aquarium rack filter
So the other day i got a aquarium rack (like the one you see in stores ) and im trying to build a cheap filter im thinking wet dry and i have a few question
1.can i use lava rock as a filter media ?
2.when i got the system each tank was separate when connecting the sump so the top rack didnt overflow into the middle racks it just went straight to the sump. Do i have to do it this way?

and i wanted to breed some fish with these tanks

thanks but i chose to get a big air pump and get a bunch of sponge filters cuz if one fish gets sick i dont want the disease to spread

I've used plastic pot scrubbers from the dollar store for bio media. They can filter debris also.
