So Im doing a dirted/substrate tank for my 20 gallon
Im planning on using 1.5-2 inch dirt. Then cap it with flourite substrate. Then maybe another cap of pool filter sand for baby tears or small rooted plants.( or did you think it will spread on the flourite>?)
Then im going to build a DIY co2 system
It will be run a 40 watt at least 5000k light
All I have right now is the tank and fixture of the light.

So the other day i got a aquarium rack (like the one you see in stores ) and im trying to build a cheap filter im thinking wet dry and i have a few question
1.can i use lava rock as a filter media ?
2.when i got the system each tank was separate when connecting the sump so the top rack didnt overflow into the middle racks it just went straight to the sump. Do i have to do it this way?

Hey so i got my 30 gal tank setup with dirt and all and didnt know bab tears needed to much light (2wpg )i was running a little less than one. so they are starting to turn brown so i moved them outside in a small container with dirt.
So my question is what led light would i need to get a nice carpet of baby tears? or what cheap fixture can i get

does anyone know how to maintain a wet dry filter so that the input and output is the same ? Is their some math formula saying that like EX (1/2 inch pvc makes 300gph )

if i dont put any gravel/sand on my fish tank and leave it bare bottom is that ok ? and if i do leave it bare bottom i have diy filter that i would like to hook up by putting 2 400 gph pumps on both sides of my 100 gallon tank is that safe for fish i plan to keep african ciclids and a arowana
