so came back from a trip to see that my tank was nearly destroyed. after a whole day of fixing cleaning dosing and changing i think my tank is going to survive im buying some duckweed and java moss to eat up more nutrients so no algae can grow and i got some black sand to help keep the plant roots down cuz the fluval stratum is too light. fish are healthy got new clowns and new pleco who are still shy any  advice on getting the pleco to come out more?

My pleco never really came out except at night and he's the biggest in the tank! I bought another pleco and its a comedy show watching them eat each others food! I started putting cucumbers in the tank and they both love them! now my big pleco comes out all the time as long as theres no movement around the tank.Working on a video of them its funny watching them!

Yeah my pleco is active throughout the day, i have only had him a few months just a lil guy about 2 1/2 inches long, he'll even come up during feeding time and suck on my fingers, I think he feels safe with a lot of mid and top level fish. I also believe its just different personality between fish, I'll watch a fish tank at the store for a good 20 minutes before i select the fish, (plus any fish from the big name stores are so messed up from being shipped, having 50 fish in a 6 gallon tank, 3 dead at the top, and the 2000 ppl tapping on the glass throughout the day. I go every wednesday to my local 'mom & pop shop' (which are slowly becoming harder to find here in Arizona) Wednesdays are the day they get all their fish stock shipped in, and as i said ill watch for them for a good 20 minutes to find the 'happy ones'. I have a sliver tip cat shark that swims in circles on the front glass, (like with his belly against the glass) My pleco will purposely stop in its way, get hit by the catshark, then follow him around for a good 3 minutes doing barrow rolls, I throw a vid of that up sameday, just got on this site.

Oh yeah he'll (the pleco) will even suck to the siphon and hold on while i clean. I believe its all in the personality of the fish.
