hey guys i need help how does one get rid of algae once and for all? cuz i have recently had an outbreak and my plants are covered in in ?
The tank is getting too much sunlight it also depends on what side of the house it is facing.
ok then so il put my tank back on a timer
Try a 3 day blackout, followed by some kind of Co2 Supplement. that worked great to get rid of the Hair algae I had.
i think it was just leaving the lights on too long so i have reduced it to 9 hours and i have given co2
Put some algae eaters in it. It helped me when I had algae
....lol i have algae eaters
Algae feeds off nutrients in the water. You therefore have excess nutrients in the water. I use very clean, soft water and therefore never get algae outbreaks no matter how much light the tanks receive. Floating plants like water cabbage are excellent at sucking up excess nutrients as is Water Sprite. If you float it, its leaves will poke above the water's surface allowing it access huge quantities of Co2 and therefore outgrow and outcompete the algae for minerals.
