Hey everyone, so as you may know from my previous blog posts, i have a huge algae problem. But, theres also a few things that aren't that balanced in my tank other than the water quality. I've got (other than algae eaters) neon tetras, cardinal tetras and some rummy nose tetras in my tank. And i've noticed that they mainly hang out at the bottom of the tank and it just creates a really bad look as if they are crammed at the bottom, but they actually have a whole lot of space above them. like a lot of space. Do you have any tips? or any kinds of fish that will hang around a little higher?

Thanks! dont forget to check out my other blog posts and new video going up! to my youtube account!

Guppies, Platys and Swords roam all over the tank. Danios spend a lot of time mid tank. The only fish I know that hang out near the top, tend to jump. If you have fairly dense plant growth that comes 2/3 -3/4 of the way to the top of the tank, your fish will feel more secure swimming above the plants, and push the action toward the top of the tank. Also, very bright lighting can stress out the fish, who then hide near the back and bottom of the tank. I have very bright lights for plant growth, but also have a small "viewing" light that comes on when the bright light timer goes off. During these lower light conditions, all my shy fish come out, and action is all over the tank.

my guppies dominate the surface cherry barbs and gold barbs are good mid section fish but i do agree with the lighting if its too bright especially for sensative tetras
