HI, ive had a 28 long aquarium for 4 months now and am wondering why my plants dont grow bushly(?) I have a single 24 watt bulb that is 10,000k and dont understand why my plants are growing so slowly. I have fish, filter, etc. but im not getting much color or bushy growth out of them. Also, any suggestions for hardy bushy plants?

Trim them back to get side shoots.

what plants do u have now?

Right now i have parrots feathers and im trying to  get them to grow side by side but the leaves on bottom  keep dying off so it looks crappy. I also have some foxtail and they are the ones that i really want to be bushy.

Your lights a little low for either to florish, but you could go with some green cabomba if your careful to watch them carefully.

How many and what kind of wattage bulbs would you recommend. Thank for the help by the way and do you now any good online plant sellers, that sell at a fair price because where i live (Los Angeles) my local store charges around $15 for an amazon sword.

We're in la do u live I can recommend some lfs

I live in Sherman  oaks, and i go to underwater depot mostly for my fish but im looking for a place that sells good healthy plants, i mainly looking for a store that offers a variety of plants not the some old stuff like anubias. Also,  I just got a good deal from a double t5ho fixture and want to replace one of the burn t bulbs with a red one, so i can  grow red plants. what would you recommend i get? Also i have a black gravel, is that okay to grow plants?

Black gravel is fine for most stem plants, but they always benefit from any extra nutrients and t5ho fixtures are great for green cabomba. Unfortunantly I've never bought plants online.

ok so i got a certain  version of cabomba that is red on top. the new light fixture that i got is a heavy duty jbj double cfl fixture. One of the sockets doesnt have a bulb so i want to get a red cfl straight tip bulb but i cant find one. However ti found  pink ones but it keeps saying they are acintic? So do these pink bulbs cover the red end of the spectrum?

I'm pretty sure the pink bulbs do cover the red spectrum, also a red tipped cabomba could be either a red cabomba or green, so if you can take a picture it would help me

I put up some pictures and i found out it is definetly red cobomba. What bulbs would you recommend and where should i get them.

Yeah thats red cabomba for sure. If you could get the pink bulb I think it would be better than a red anyway. Exactly how many watts do you have on your tank anyway? It must be at least 3 watts per gallon, but these plants are photophilic, so the more light the better.
