aggression
So i added 2 new cichlids to my tank a week ago, they still seem to be healthy but the biggest one doesnt eat very much and stays hidden alot of the time. And yesterday i added a few new hiddey holes and my dominate fish wont let any of the fish claim them. His color has even gone a little pale. Hes just chases all the other fish around this is has been going on since last night. Is there anything i could do to get him to calm down?

I'm not an expert in any way about cichlids but I wonder if you maybe removed the aggressive one to another tank (quarantine tank or something) just for a little bit and let the other fish establish their holes. Maybe when you add him back he'll feel like he's the new guy and won't be as aggressive with them. On the other hand, it may just be what that particular kind of cichlid is like.

the alpha male will calm the tank and all the rest will become pale...not much you can do

whats weird is that the alpha is the one whos pale. he looks like hes got a mask on, his face is real dark.
