I used this method with a bad outbreak in my tank worked great it should turn it bright red/pink and then died. make shure you turn off all filters and air pumps when dosing you want the water as calm as possible.
thanks everyone! I have lowered the light cycle & also got a powerhead / fluvel C02 + fitting to paintball canaster.
Hopefully clear this up :D thanks again
BBA is very hardy and very difficult to get rid. Lowering lights just won't do it. Consistent CO2 will help, so the Fluval CO2 is a good idea. I just don't think you will be rid of it without treating will either Excel or H2O2. Another more simple option is to just pick it off if it is just in a few spots.
that is beard algae.. you usually get that from too many nutrients in the water... things like excess food
and high light.. here is a video of what fixed it for me:
Thank yo everyone.. sure the tanks on its way to recovery!
now hvae C02 injection, got a small powerhead to help with current dead spots & have purchased some EXCEL so hopefully have this cleared up in a few weeks.
Also did lower the light cycle to 8 hours but really notsure if this is enough for a planted tank, i used to have it on for 10 and was fine for months.
How long do you have your lights on?
Will post in a week the progress on the BBA
i leave my lights on like 12 hours normally at least a day and i dont have an algae problem, but every tank is different
