Air stone under dirt?

I'm getting ready to dirt a 90 Gallon. I was planning on putting the air stone under the dirt in the back of the tank (deepest dirt section of my tank). Does any one know if this is a bad idea or not?Continue

When to re-dirt?

So, I have a 90 gallon dirted with flourite on top (no co2, regular water changes). Been going about two years. Heres the current problems: cryps and amazon swords are getting holes in the leaves, amazon swords are pushing themselves out of the gravel(rhizomes are now completely out) and the roots are also poking out of the substraight; also swords are growing curled leaves. I think it might be time to re-dirt. I want to keep the flourite so I might have to shop vac it off the dirt(not looking… Continue
