Hey guys, my name is Paul from North Carolina. I am new to the site. I found it by stumbling upon Dustin's youtube channel and I was like "hey im going to give this site a shot." Anyway, I have a 25g planted tank with pressurized co2, t5ho, the whole 9 yards. I am looking for my next move on the tank. I have an amazon sword as my center piece but it is out growing the tank and is taking over. So in its place I am really considering several medium sized rocks I will cover with Riccia…Continue
Algae bloom is made up of microscopic planktonic suspended algae (also known as phytoplankton - approx 4 microns in diameter).
Suspended algae are plant life and just like plants they flourish during the summer months when conditions are ideal: more sunlight, warmer water temperatures and higher levels of nutrients.
Pigments (chlorophyll, fucoxanthin and carotenoids) in the algae (green water) absorb light energy…Continue

White or Grayish Water
Face it; the guilt eats away at you. You've brought home yet another molly and another molly swirls carelessly in the toilet going to that big aquarium in the sky. Is it your fault? In my findings... yes, it probably is.
Don't get me wrong, fish die just like the rest of us. Sometimes a fishes days are just numbered, but if you're seeing a trend in the belly-up category, something needs to change.

So I set up 14 gallon hex tank. I have put my guppies and shrimp in it to breed. 2 male guppies Orange leopard and orange neon and 2 female orange neon and yellow leopard. I also added 3 cherry shrimp. Planted it with something I bought at Pets Unlimited not sure of the name but I will check. I have a small internal filter from walmart in it. I had to put a pantyhose toe over the filter intake to protect the babies from getting sucked in. It's a pain as it keep getting plugged and I need to…Continue

Angelfish is the name of a popular aquarium fish native to slow flowing rivers and streams in South America. Its scientific name is Pterophyllum scalare, and Angelfish is therefore often called Scalare. When you set up an aquarium for your Scalare, you should try to make the aquarium resemble the natural environment for a wild Scalare. The slow flowing rivers and streams in South America where wild Scalare is found are typically densely grown with algae and aquatic plants. You Scalare will…Continue
