So back onto my fish obsession! Restarted my 55g with my 10g as a quarantine tank. So I knew that the fish I absolutely need in my FOWLR are marine betta, dwarf lionfish, and snowflake eel. So far, it has been a couple of months with just the Marine Betta in the 55g. I had an antenatta but it didn't make it past a week so I returned it and got a Blue spot puffer instead and the eel is still not eating as of a month by the time I am posting this. With that being said, the coast seems clear…
ContinueSo I have been wanting to spread out my corals since I bought the nice center piece for my saltwateraquarium but I never had the time or confidence to do so. Well during my last water change I decided to just take some scissors to a couple of my soft corals and tear up some mushrooms and zoos. I have to say it was much easier than I thought!!! I might end up tearing apart all of the piece if everything attaches and does well on their rubble after a few weeks. With that being said I can start…

So it has been a while since I have taken some time out to really brag about my progress. Not that there is much since I barely have time to feed the fish lately.
10 gallon planted tank is overrun by pond snails and looks like complete shit! I only see 2 white clouds left and 4 zebra danios. The good news, the shrimp are spawning like crazy! That is something I can sell back for some profit once the get to a decent size. I have been dying to tear this tank down and get a 30 gallon…

I finally downloaded all of the pictures on my phone to my computer so now I will actually post them to my page. Big updates to talk about are going to focus on my planted tanks first and finish off with my saltwater experience.
10 gallon planted is overloaded with pond snails so I am working on getting rid of them with lettuce in a bottle I'll let you know how well that works out. My crystal red shrimps that I ordered at my LFS finally came in 4 months later so I threw them into the…

So I am very late on this blog post, but I have a bunch of updates!!! First off I am selling back my Cory's because they are just not the right fish for a planted tank no matter how hard I try! Second off I have been toying with the idea of discus, but I think I will wait for my plants to grow in a lot more! Speaking of planted tanks my 10g definitely has pond snails so I need to fix that and quick! I bought plastic to make my own personal tops to my aquariums to try to reduce evaporation…

So a couple days ago I woke up to find one of my danios missing. I looked around and came to the conclusion that he jumped the tank. I searched the floor for a bit and couldn't find him. I left it alone for a few hours and went back with a flashlight to look behind the tank. I still could not find him for the life of me! My brother asks me if I looked in the filter and of course I didn't because he is too big to fit through the slots, or so I thought. Just to humor him though, and honestly I…

So in my last blog I discussed how I was debating on what I should do in regards to a salt water tank and I have finally made up my mind!
My 55g is going to become a dirt planted tank since my 10g is doing excellent! I am going to make the 29g my salt water tank. I figure it is big enough to keep a nice collection, but not too big or too small to handle. I have been doing a lot of research and asking a lot of questions.
First off I am going to do a deep sand bed about 4"…

So my dilemma is that I have a 55g tank that I am not sure of what I should do with it. Originally my plan was to plant it heavily, get a little aquascape action going. With this idea I could hook up my 10,29, and 55 to a single sump making it easy to maintain all of them.
Then I start doing a little research on salt water and reef aquariums and I thought maybe I should try. Now I am insistent that if I decide to experiment with salt water I would use my 10g to do so, knowing that it…

So after setting up my 29g to hold my vast variety of fish I decided to attempt aquascaping on my 10g. The initial attempt was kind of a fail. Nothing like James Findley's, but I wasn't going to let that discourage me. I just watched other people's video's and started hearing about specific plants being easier and more appealing and fast vs slow growth. Now when I heard about dirt tanks I assumed they were talking about substrate like flourite, little did I know they meant actual dirt! As in…

The name is De'Shawn. I recently got into the fish hobby, about 2 months and so far I have a 10 gallon heavily planted, a 29 gallon with some ferns and a lot of fish, and a 55 that I won't set up until maybe january when I have more money and supplies.
I started with a 10 gallon and was going to just make it a glofish tank in my room for a little color to the room. Next thing I knew I had everything but glofish! haha funny how that works. to list them all and include the hardships I…
