Baby Angel Fish

I have a couple of nice Angel Fish in my 65gal aquarium that have laid eggs about seven times & each time they have ate all the eggs.  On March 6th  thought I would give them a hand - I removed the Amazon Sword leaf that they used and put it in a breeder tank with no other fish in it .  Only about 20 eggs hatched and are 11 days old now. I was feeding them frozen bbs for the last few days , not sure if they are eating much of it ???  Today I went out to my local pet shop & bought a…

New sand and Gravel, + Filter improvements...maybe!

I just love spending ages pouring loads of water over new gravel or in this case sand to get it as clean as possible for my beloved aquarium, perhaps just a tad of sarcasm in that part of my blog post. Anyway onto the filter, I don't know if I've caused any potential issues but I've just removed the "check ball" from the intake strainer of my fluval 206 external, and all that seems to have happened is the outflow speed has increased quite a bit for doing so, had a little ponder and during my…

starting over and regrouping

I have been out of the hobby for a few years.  Having kept tanks and fish most of my life. I knew it would only be a matter of time. When my two year old asked for a fish. That was all the incentive I needed. I have a number of tanks just stored away. I pulled out a 20 G LONG.  And took a cut and dry approach. Gold fish were my go to ...

They are attractive fish. Hardy and cold water lovers. They would be the show peace. No need to aqua scape. What would be the point. Gold fish have a…

We have babies

Well yesterday afternoon one of my Guppies went into labour and it looks like she gave birth to about 18 fry. I know I may sound a bit sad but I was really excited to watch her. I videoed some of the labour. I'll put it on shortly.

Mum is doing very well and eaating anything in sight. I have started feeding the fry liquifry as instructed by my local pet shop.

UV Steriliser

I've just purchased an in-line Vecton V2 UV 300 Aquarium Steriliser, and my question to you is which of the hoses on my filter should it be installed, the one from the intake or the one to the outflow. There is nothing that I can see in the manual informing of which it should be. Perhaps it…

Female Guppies first day in the nursery box

Well I had thought that they looked a lot slimmer but maybe it was just the light. I have uploaded a video of them before I put them in the box and then after a day in the box here's the link

No babies as of yet just lots of fish poo. I never knew they had that much waste. Ok so I'll update tomorrow or as soon as I have any news.

My first blog

Well this is my first time on here. I have a Fluval Chi 25 liter tank. I have 3 male Guppies, 3 female Guppies, 2 Harlequin rose Boras. I also have 2 cherry shrimp. 2 of my Guppies are pregnant they have gotten very box looking so I have isolated them in a nursery box. This is the first time I've ever had any experience of this and I'm looking forward to watching them give birth and grow. I will post some pictures as soon as I have any. At the end of the month I'm buying a new 10gallon tank so… Continue

Just purchased an Odyssea T5 HO Deluxe 36" (6500K)

I just purchased what I linked below

Odyssea 36" T5 HO Deluxe

Based on my calculation Ill be between 25 to 33 L/in^2  which is high to very high light range.

The reason for the large range in the luminosity is due to me not knowing the characteristics of the reflectors.  I do know that they're not parabolic, or V shaped.  They're simply bulbs in a…
