So my dilemma is that I have a 55g tank that I am not sure of what I should do with it. Originally my plan was to plant it heavily, get a little aquascape action going. With this idea I could hook up my 10,29, and 55 to a single sump making it easy to maintain all of them.
Then I start doing a little research on salt water and reef aquariums and I thought maybe I should try. Now I am insistent that if I decide to experiment with salt water I would use my 10g to do so, knowing that it…

Hi everyone,
My fisrt planted tank 2.5g is doing fine, but unfortunately my Anubias is having issues and I truly do not know what could be.
I am thinking that it could be the following:
Melting?
Excess dosage? 5 drops of Flourish Excell & Flourish Iron twice a week.
Too much light? Using a small compact fluorescent buld.
Or the…

Hey everyone,
I am looking to get some pencilfish for my planted tank. I have a 20 gallon tall. I'm looking for a good place to buy pencilfish off of the internet. Either coral red, golden, or dwarf pencilfish. I can't seem to find any. Also, what does everyone think of these fish? They seem pretty cool but I haven't seen many people with them.

Hey everyone,
Ok people I am not an expert at the hobby... yet lol. I have picked up this hobby and am obsessed. Right now I have a 20 gallon tall and a 10 gallon tank. Both of the tanks are planted and filled with fish. I have 14 neon tetra, 4 cory catfish, 2 yoyo loaches, 1 clown loach, and one male betta in my 20 gallon. It is heavily planted and I use dirt with a pool filter sand cap. The ten gallon has 5 guppies of different types, and 1 german blue ram. Both tanks have…

So after setting up my 29g to hold my vast variety of fish I decided to attempt aquascaping on my 10g. The initial attempt was kind of a fail. Nothing like James Findley's, but I wasn't going to let that discourage me. I just watched other people's video's and started hearing about specific plants being easier and more appealing and fast vs slow growth. Now when I heard about dirt tanks I assumed they were talking about substrate like flourite, little did I know they meant actual dirt! As in…

Hi everyone!
I need assistance on when and what amount of dosage I should perform on my 3 week old 2.5g planted tank. So far I think I am definitely doing something wrong since my Anubias is developing some holes along with brown spots on a couple of its leaves. I am dosing for now Flourish Excel and Flourish Iron once a week.
It has been hard to understand the dosage since I know it has to be way less than 1ml. But how much should it be? One drop? Two drops? From both…

I have been keeping aquariums since I was 10 years old. My first tanks were small chrome framed, leaky tanks run on noisy air pumps and ugly plastic corner filters lighted by incandescent fish cooking lights, that showed off the beautiful red, blue, or lime green painted pea sized gravel, bubbling deep sea diver, flapping fluorescent clam shell, Chinese pagoda, and tiny “No Fishing” sign. After exterminating a few hundred dollars worth of fish in my algae covered ammonia concentration camps,…

The name is De'Shawn. I recently got into the fish hobby, about 2 months and so far I have a 10 gallon heavily planted, a 29 gallon with some ferns and a lot of fish, and a 55 that I won't set up until maybe january when I have more money and supplies.
I started with a 10 gallon and was going to just make it a glofish tank in my room for a little color to the room. Next thing I knew I had everything but glofish! haha funny how that works. to list them all and include the hardships I…

Im starting this blog for my 180 gallon planted tank to not only have a record of the evolution of the tank but for others as well. When I was first starting my tank there was not really any information from people with bigger tanks, especially on this site so hopefully this will help some of you out and feel free to ask questions. I plan on updating with a picture once a month.
WEEK…

Been some years since I kept tropical fish but now the kids are a bit older (and less likely to disrupt my tank!), I have started a 84 L tank to get me back in the swing of things.
The tanks been running for a couple of months now. Started with 4 platys to get the tank established with the intention of moving them to my 6 ft tank when I get it out of storage and setup. Lost a platy a couple of weeks later, never figured out why (I'd been testing regularly and keeping a very…

Hi everyone,
I am planning to start my first African Cichlid tank. I am doing extensive research so that I can be informed on which specific species to start with, their needs, water parameters, food, aqua scape, etc.
My question is, which is the smallest species from the African Cichlids that I can buy? And what is the smallest tank size I can get for that particualr species?
Your input will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
