Is it okay to add or use potassium silicate 34% in my planted tank with Flora Max substrate and co2
Whats up fishtank people! I am finally setting up my first real dirted tank. I have been using a bowl to experiment on but now I want to go all out with a real tank. I've gathering resources for my next big tank and I want this one to have tons of plant growth. My last tanks had no dirt and I have gotten the "ok" stuff along with this so called "plant substrate". Don't remember the name. I have got nothing but algae everywhere and every…Continue
I've purchased a co2 d501 generator kit using citric acid and baking soda. When I first added it to my 55 gallon planted fish tank it bothered the fish until I adjusted the bubble flow and turned on the air stones. The fish are doing great now. I've went online reading different reviews about when to use the co2 day or night, can anyone that use's co2 tell me when is the best time co2 should be applied inside the tank.
I've been looking all across the state of Wisconsin for a pair of apistogramma cacatuoides, but with no luck. Does anyone know any local breeders, local stores that carry them, or a good online dealer to get them from.
I just bought a 55 gallon tank and want to start getting my stuff together for it for a planted tank. I already have a 4 gallon tank and used Flora Max in it. I want to try something other from that. Any suggestions?

I just wanted to blog this because I know there has always been a lot of discussion about the use of chemicals in a planted tank killing live plants. I did have a brown algae problem and I bought the product API AlgaeFix as it claims to work without killing the plants. I have to say the product is excellent. I only had to treat my aquarium once and within 3 days it cleared up although I started when I began seeing the algae. Never the less I wanted to give them a shot out because if you have…Continue

I used to really enjoy doing different projects with the fish tanks. I was pleased to take in fish from others who needed assistance or to give a fish a home who needed one. But, the last year and a half has been rough, so my thoughts concerning my tanks has changed. I think I'd like to keep a set up without changing it and keep the tanks I have without taking on any projects. I will let the tanks change naturally of course, but I'm not going to attempt anything…Continue
I had a beautiful sail fin black molly in with my fish. That boy is big and beautiful but he's aggressive. I wanted so badly to keep him in there and cater to his likes and dislikes. I had to make a decision though, do I keep him in there because he's that big and beautiful or do I continue to…Continue

So I have been wanting to spread out my corals since I bought the nice center piece for my saltwateraquarium but I never had the time or confidence to do so. Well during my last water change I decided to just take some scissors to a couple of my soft corals and tear up some mushrooms and zoos. I have to say it was much easier than I thought!!! I might end up tearing apart all of the piece if everything attaches and does well on their rubble after a few weeks. With that being said I can start…Continue
